Procedure
Leptospirosis is a bacterial disease that occurs worldwide. The disease is mainly caused by pathogenic bacteria of the species Leptospira interrogans.
Its main reservoirs are rodents, especially rats, which excrete the bacteria in their urine. The bacteria are easily maintained in the environment (fresh water or muddy soil), which favors contamination. The BIOSYNEX AMPLIQUICK® Leptospira test detects a molecular target of the bacterium located on the lipL32 gene encoding an outer membrane protein present only in pathogenic strains.
